Autumn wedding flower ideas

Autumn is a wonderful time for a wedding, with a wonderful array of flowers to choose from. By late Summer we are starting to see a glimpse of the seasons changing, and what flowers autumn will bring, richer, deeper colours, berries, different foliage, more texture. In this blog I want to share with you some ideas for the best Autumn flowers to choose and to show you that even though the colours are getting darker they can still mix well with paler tones to keep a soft romantic feel to your wedding flowers.

I truly believe we should work with the seasons and choose the finest nature has to offer, and for Autumn this doesn’t have to mean lots of orange or red. It’s possible to use different tones like peaches or terracottas, mauves and mulberry, all will tone in perfectly with lighter blush colours and neutral creams and ivory.

The big star of the show in Autumn I would say is dahlias, they are Autumn’s answer to early summer peonies, they can be big and blousy or smaller a more delicate, an absolute must for the Autumn, they are in season from August to October.

This is another flower I look forward to seeing in Autumn, its beautiful burgundy tones and textural interest really gives arrangements that Autumnal feel. It adds that richer colour but without dominating the other paler toned flowers. There is also a trailing variety available, which can add another dimension and interest to elevated designs.

Romantic autumn ceremony style

An abundance of beautiful Autumn flowers and candlelight are the perfect combination for creating a stunning romantic ceremony.

Autumn tablescape

A beautiful Autumn table with lots of interest, here I have used different sized vases filled with all the gorgeous flowers, dahlias, garden roses, amaranthus, snowberries and astrantia, then with lots of Autumnal foliage spilling out. Then to finish the table I have used hops as a runner, nestled amongst as many candles as you can, tall taper candles in matching tones and chunky pillar candles, giving that lovely soft light that enhances the romance.
